Jeremy and I have been anxiously waiting for Trubble Brewing to open their doors for months now. They are practically situated in our own backyard and over the course of the last year, we’ve been getting hints about how the owners are focused on incorporating regional beers in addition to their own and crafting totally unique menu options made with locally sourced food.
We had the pleasure of attending one of their soft openings this past weekend for a first look at the digs and a sampling of their food and drink.
Trubble is located in the old Chappelle’s Seafood building at 2725 Broadway. We love how well preserved the building is – inside and out. Exposed brick is the best, no?
Though the establishment was packed and there wasn’t an empty seat in the house once we sat down, the atmosphere was able to remain so cozy. Minimal, industrial style decor, local art, and soft lighting were aplenty and the entire space is situated around a centrally located foosball table (and the bar at the back.) You can keep an eye on your food and see when orders are up as the chefs present each carefully crafted plate through a large window.
We were able to pick and choose from several food options to experience a unique, three course meal – in addition to sampling several drinks.
We both started with a platter of pickled veggies served with a beer caramelized onion and sharp cheddar cheese spread.
Next up was a salad and soup plate. I opted for the house salad and potato miso soup, while Jeremy discovered his new favorite plate of greens with the shaved vegetable salad.
Finally, our main courses. I ordered an incredible vegetable tartine topped with mushroom and fresh greens and Jeremy got the drumsticks coated in beer-vinegar hot sauce, served with a homemade biscuit and honey.
And you guys. That was just the food. We washed this all down with a few amazing drinks, too!
Trubble has rounded up several regional, yet often hard-to-find brews which are available now. We can’t wait for them to add a few of their own creations to the menu soon! When we were there, they had options available from Taxman, Birdboy, Tow Yard, and BIER Brewery. Additionally, they’ve got several wine selections.
We were so impressed with the entire experience, from start to finish. Trubble will, without a doubt, quickly become one of our favorite establishments in Fort Wayne and was well worth the wait!
Their grand opening takes place tomorrow (Wednesday, November 25!) Be sure to follow them for more updates on their Facebook page. You can bet we’ll be dropping in regularly, so, perhaps we’ll see you there!
