It seems like every week, I’ve discovered something new and spend several days (and sometimes weeks and months following the initial discovery) obsessing about it.
Hello, October! I feel like I’ve been waiting on you forever. This summer started off so gloomy, rainy, and cold, and ended so fiercely hot and muggy, that many of us Midwesterners found ourselves saying, “Let’s just skip all this and get to the crisp and cozy autumn months already!”
When it comes to going out for lunch or dinner, friends and family are forever saying, “Your choice. You have more restrictions and less to choose from.” As a vegetarian ten years ago, this was definitely the case. And maybe in some smaller towns or cities, it still is.
There are songs, albums, and artists that I tend to associate with each season, but none more-so than in the fall. It’s usually the time of year that I discover new artists and listen to them obsessively. It’s funny how I’ll go months without thinking about a particular song that I first heard and was in love with over five or ten years ago in the months of September or October, but once those months roll around it’s suddenly in my head again. I think the falling leaves, golden sunsets, and crisp air cause some kind of trigger and BAM, it’s time to get them on repeat for a few weeks.
