4 Ingredient Super Juice

November 4, 2015

“Superfoods” and “healthy eating rules” always seem to get shot down just as quickly as they gain their popularity. One minute, a group of “experts” tells us that almond milk, kale, or eating paleo are the best things for our health and the next, another group of “experts” is telling us to ditch them all.

A few years ago, juicing was all the rage. But then we began hearing it’s better to eat the skins and flesh of fruits and veggies and that all of the calorie and sugars in juices might be causing our weight loss plateaus or breakouts.

That’s the world we live in, I suppose, always keeping us on our toes. I’m no health expert, but I know one thing for certain: Without fail, every single time I get an out-of-nowhere craving for orange juice, I’m going to listen to my body and gulp down more than a standard serving size. No shame. That’s because almost every single time I first get that craving, I end up sick just days later. And I truly believe that extra dose of Vitamin C has magical powers because after downing a few glasses, I always feel better.

This year, I’m trying to ditch the store-bought juice, though, and make my own. So I thought, while I’m at it, why not sneak in a few more vitamins and minerals, too? Enjoy this immune-boosting, cold-kicking juice (in moderation) and celebrate its healing powers!

4 Ingredient Super Juice

Makes one serving, about 12 ounces

  • 2-3 large carrots
  • 1 apple
  • 1 orange
  • Small nub of fresh ginger

  1. Thoroughly clean all of the produce.
  2. Run all of the ingredients through a juicer.
  3. Pour over ice.

That’s it! So easy and so tasty! Be careful with the ginger, though. Start with a VERY small piece and add more if needed.

You could also add a few handfuls of spinach or a bit of lemon for some extra iron and a little kick!

xo, Aly

Almost every nook and cranny of our home is filled Almost every nook and cranny of our home is filled with sentimental pieces. I’m the daughter, granddaughter, and niece that will gladly take items the family may otherwise get rid of or have tucked away in closets for decades, untouched. The kind of traveler that looks for leaves and shells and rocks to keep in my pockets and carry with me, so I can always hold a piece of where I’ve been. Usually, I have no idea where these things may come to live in my own home, but they always manage to find their perfect places in time.

These shelves alone hold a basket full of stones and shells from around the world, framed high school love letters my grandpa wrote to my grandma in the 1940s, an assortment of found and inherited books, some well more than a century old, and sweet portraits of my great grandparents.

While I strive to avoid clutter, I do love filling every room with as many meaningful pieces as I can. Because while many things are just things, some are so much more. 🤍
