5 Beauty Products I’m Loving Right Now: Splurge-Worthy Makeup Edition

September 8, 2016

IMG_8975

A couple of weeks ago, I shared five of my favorite budget-friendly makeup products. Today, I’m highlighting five makeup products that I’ve found to be totally worth the splurge.

The plus side of these pricier products are that they last forever. Aside from the mascara, I feel like I hardly ever replace the rest of them. The length of time they last, along with their high quality – and balancing them with more budget-friendly products – make their heftier price tags worth the investment.

Splurge Worthy Makeup

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Anti-Aging Concealer

$24 at ULTA

Dark circles have plagued my eyes since I was a wee one – even when I’m fully rested and well-nourished and feeling great. I’m constantly being asked if I’m tired or sick or stressed based on these alone and it gets old, y’all! I wish I had the confidence to wear them proudly like the lovely ladies of France do, but alas, most days, I simply don’t have the patience for all of the questioning. This is the only product I’ve found that makes my under eye situation 90% better immediately upon application and is long lasting, too. I dot just the teeniest amount underneath my eyes and lightly blend with a brush or beauty blender before covering and setting further with my foundation and finishing powder. A little goes a loooong way and this stuff lasts ages, so the price is totally worth it!

Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer

$25 at ULTA

If I’m lucky, I don’t have to use this product at all. But most days, I’ll have a blemish or mark of some kind that needs covering, and I’ve found nothing to work better than this. Just the smallest dab atop the blemish and a light blending are all I need to cover any redness or imperfections. What I love about this product is the fact that it truly doesn’t crease and settle into the imperfections (drawing more attention to them) after an hour or two like so many other products I’ve tried. I apply this lightly with a finger or a Q-tip after any liquid foundation and before any powders.

Benefit Cosmetics Rockateur Blush Box O’ Powder Blush in Rose Gold

$29 at ULTA

I’ve tried my fair share of blush products over the years and this is hands down my forever favorite. I’m a strong believer in that rosy cheeks instantly bring a glow and life to any face, and even if I decide to go barefaced for a day, I can’t leave the house without swiping a bit of blush on. This one is the perfect shade for my skin, whether I’m at my palest or tannest, glides right on, and stays put throughout the day.

bareMinerals Warmth All-Over Face Color Bronzer

$21 at ULTA

Occasionally I want to add a little extra warmth to my face – especially in the summer months – and this has been a trusty and true product for getting that glow. I usually just ever so lightly dust my cheekbones, forehead, nose, jawline, and neck with it after applying the rest of my makeup as a finishing touch, or sometimes sprinkle just a tad into my moisturizer or liquid foundation and mix it up before applying.

Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Lengthening Mascara

$24 at ULTA

There is no other beauty product I’ve experimented more with than mascara. There are just so many to try out there and all of them seem so promising and ~life-changing~ … in the advertisements, at least. I’ve definitely found a whole lot of duds and a handful of favorites over the years. My current obsession, and one I think I’ll be restocking for many months and years to come, is They’re Real! My lashes have never looked longer or fuller after just one swipe of product. Two or three layers of it, and they really pop. Since giving this mascara a try, I’ve had several people ask what I’m using and no joke, “Are those your real lashes?!” Yes, in fact, They’re Real!

What beauty products are you willing to splurge on? I’m always looking to try something new and add to my favorites list!

xo, Aly

Almost every nook and cranny of our home is filled Almost every nook and cranny of our home is filled with sentimental pieces. I’m the daughter, granddaughter, and niece that will gladly take items the family may otherwise get rid of or have tucked away in closets for decades, untouched. The kind of traveler that looks for leaves and shells and rocks to keep in my pockets and carry with me, so I can always hold a piece of where I’ve been. Usually, I have no idea where these things may come to live in my own home, but they always manage to find their perfect places in time.

These shelves alone hold a basket full of stones and shells from around the world, framed high school love letters my grandpa wrote to my grandma in the 1940s, an assortment of found and inherited books, some well more than a century old, and sweet portraits of my great grandparents.

While I strive to avoid clutter, I do love filling every room with as many meaningful pieces as I can. Because while many things are just things, some are so much more. 🤍
