I deal with pretty severe acne, no matter the time of year. While it’s never a pleasure, summer is the season I loathe it the most. It always seems to worsen after time in the sun – when sweat and makeup gang up on it together, and if I apply even the thinnest layer of sunscreen, I’m just asking for the breakout to top all breakouts. LUSH Rub Rub Rub Body Scrub
I’ve been pairing the orange blossom scented body wash (below) with LUSH’s Rub Rub Rub body scrub, which is also bursting with the same sweet fragrance. I use this a couple of times a week to exfoliate and even out my skin. I especially like to use it before shaving, or after a major gardening session (it helps scrub away any lingering patches of soil!)

La Petit Marseiliais Extra Gentle Shower Créme
This body wash is so indulgent that there are days I’m excited to shower simply because I get to lather up in the stuff. It’s perfect for sensitive skin (especially if you’re dealing with sunburn or summer breakouts!) and is ever-so-lightly scented. I’ve only tried the orange blossom fragrance, but I don’t imagine I’ll swap it out for anything else, because it truly makes me feel like I’m washing away my stresses somewhere in the magical south of France!

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater
While most summer days have me scrambling for oil blotting sheets, there are times when my skin is actually feeling super dry (a day of boating on the lake, or a shift at work spent sitting in the roaring A/C.) My hair also gets pretty parched in the summer months. I’ve only recently started carrying Mario Badescu’s Rose Water Spray around with me for an occasional relieving spritz on my face, neck, or ends of my hair. Pacifica Sandalwood Perfume
I don’t like wearing too bold of a perfume in the summer months, since I feel like it can quickly become overwhelming (less layers for the fragrance to be buried under, and skin heating up to make it stronger.) I’ve recently fallen in love with Pacifica’s perfumes – I’ve always loved their vegan and cruelty free products – because they offer a light, but long-lasting scent. I’m a fan of their Persian Rose scent in the spring, and have transitioned to their Sandalwood fragrance for the summer months.
